Lot Essay

Floris Neusüss occupies a unique position in the history of the photogram. He demonstrated and inspired lyrical vision in using this technique to create fluid and spectral impressions of the human figure, rendered life-size on direct positive paper. His images, made in the period 1960-1974, have mystery and depth, making him a worthy successor to Man Ray and Moholy-Nagy and a significant precursor to the experiments of Susan Derges, Adam Fuss and Garry Fabian Miller.
