DELESSERT, Adolpe. Paris: Fortin, Masson and Langlise et Leclercq, 1843. 4° (236 x 166mm). Title vignette, folding map, and 35 plates, comprising 8 lithographic views by V. Dollet, and 27 engraved zoological plates, most by J.G. Late 19th-century calf-backed boards (lightly rubbed, upper joint a little cracked). Provenance: ANDRE ENGEL COLLECTION. FIRST EDITION. Dividing his work into two parts, Delessert first describes the route taken by his scientific expedition, and then the more important natural history findings. Of the 27 hand-coloured engravings which illustrate the latter, 11 are devoted to lepidoptera. Nissen ZBI 1067; Vicaire III, 119.
