ALBUM -- a mid-19th-century 4° album (285 x 245mm) of scraps, cuttings, engravings, manuscript poetical quotations etc. and including C.90 ORIGINAL DRAWINGS AND WATERCOLOURS chiefly of Turkish, Maltese, Liman and Spanish costumes, including a matador and a bullfighting scene, maritime views, landscapes, harbour and coastal views etc. Contemporary half morocco (worn). Provenance: Mary Blake Palmer Markwell. A loosely-inserted autograph note relating to the album states, "She wished me her eldest brother's daughter ... to have this old book as it contains many sketches by her husband whilst at sea ..."
