BELZONI, Giovanni Battista. Plates [Six New Plates] Illustrative of the Researches and Operations of G. Belzoni in Egypt and Nubia. London: John Murray, 1821-22. 2 parts in one volume, 2° (558 x 455mm). 40 plates, several folding, comprising 22 hand-coloured lithographs, 4 uncoloured lithographs, 13 hand-coloured etchings and a hand-coloured aquatint, all plates and the 3 leaves of text mounted on linen (occasional very minor soiling and staining, a few plates with pencilled marginalia). Contemporary (?original) red half roan, printed label on front cover (worn, edges repaired). 'These plates were intended to illustrate Belzoni's Narrative of the Operations and Recent Discoveries ... in Egypt and Nubia, 4to ... As many as eight colours are used on one plate for the coloured illustrations, and the colouring is skilfully done' (Abbey Travel, 268).
