NATH SINGH ENTERTAINING
Jodhpur, circa 1750
Gouache heightened with gold and silver on paper, the noble sits with others under a canopy, all wearing huge turbans, most holding circular black shields, others carrying bows and one with a flywhisk, identified with devanagari inscriptions, all watch a diving dove, while another dove balances upon a sword, red border, the reverse with devanagari inscription identifying central figure, slight repainting in areas, otherwise in good condition

Lot Essay

The central personage is clearly identified, as an inscription on the reverse reads sri nath singhji ri sibi/Portrait of Sri Nath Singhji.
