Portrait of the artist, half-length, with glasses

The present work relates to a late self-portrait by Reynolds of c. 1788 that exists in a number of versions, the prime original of which is that in the Royal Collection at Windsor Castle (see D. Mannings, Sir Joshua Reynolds: A Complete Catalogue of His Paintings, New Haven and London, 2000, I, p. 51, no. 22).
