Lot Essay
Rigolot was a student of Pelouse and Allongé, concentrating on landscapes and river scenes in a style close to that of the Barbizon painters. He showed great freedom in his harvest scenes, and especially in his Algerian landscapes where we observe a rigorous touch that is both poetic and individual to the artist. He was a member of the Société des Orientalistes Français and showed at the Salon from 1886. His works are found in Nancy, Rouen, Cambrai and Saint-Quentin.
