Half-titles. 2 lithographic folding frontispieces, one lithographic folding map, and one lithographic plate. Provenance: baron de Nervo (engraved armorial bookplates). FIRST FRENCH EDITION. A FRESH SET IN A CONTEMPORARY BINDING. 'A short account of La Pérouse's expedition is given, also of the unsuccessful search for him of D'Entrecasteaux and Kermadec. Dillon discovered in 1827 that La Pérouse met his fate on Vanikoro, one of the Santa Cruz Group. He was awarded a life annuity of 4000 francs and the distinction of the Legion of Honour' (Ferguson).
