Like the previous lot, the inspiration for this much smaller vase is clearly the well-known series of so-called 'Alhambra' vases of the Nasrid period. After the Zuloagas, the Eibar-based Guisasola family, all of them disciples of Plácido, were significant producers of damascened wares, each member appearing to have established his or, in the case of Felipa Guisasola, her own workshop. Towards the end of the 19th century, Tomás Guisasola, the maker of the present vase, appears to have been in business with his brother-in-law, José Vicente Iriondo, before presumably being joined by his son.
