Lot Essay

Stuart Chase (1888-1985) was a nationally prominent economist, author of 35 books, co-founder of Consumer Research the precursor of Consumers Union and an advisor to Franklin D. Roosevelt. Steichen and Chase were neighbors in Redding, Connecticut.
