Lot Essay

The original owner of lots 200-202 was Daniel Lockwood, Edward Weston's newspaper delivery boy in Carmel in the early 1930s. A playmate of Cole and Brett, Lockwood was given $10 by his mother to buy two prints by Edward and returned with three - Pepper No. 35, and two versions of Weston's Eroded Rock, Point Lobos. The print was eventually bequeathed by Lockwood to his step-daughter, the current owner.
