The authenticity of this lot has kindly been confirmed by Cathinka Huizing after first hand examination.

The young girl Ni Wayang Pollok Tjoeglik (1917-1985) had been trained in the ritual of temple dances from earliest youth. When Le Mayeur first saw her she lived in the little village of Kelandis, and when he wanted her to sit for him he had to request permission from the head of the village. They married in 1935 and she was to be his muse for the rest of his life.
