Lot Essay

A very similar but larger example from this group of Agra carpets was sold in these Rooms, 25 April 2002, lot 100. The bold scale of drawing in both the border and the palmettes, the fine weave and flexible handle and the vibrant colouring differentiates the group of carpets to which this belongs from other pieces woven in this region.
