Two bottles and a magnum in the span of three months, late summer to early fall 2003: Amazing color knocking on maturity's door, deep garnet. For a wine two years older than myself it has fewer gray hairs poking out. It's seemingly immortal...perhaps the quintessential Latour. Very refined aromatics, tremendous complexity, evolved fruits, Latour's classic cedar note, spice, all in harmony. Time in glass really gets this wine to fully bloom. Better than the '64 recently tasted. Truly an experience for one's sight, sense and mind. Drinking superbly. From magnum: restrained, tight and linear in aroma and taste. All the power and balance but none of the sexy charm found in bottle. Sadly, I don't think one man's life will outlive this format! ST
