Details
Grands-Echézeaux--Vintage 1966
Côte de Nuits, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti
Lot 275 levels: one 3cm, one 4cm, one 4.5cm, four 5cm and five 5.5cm; one loose label. Lot 276 levels; two 4cm, seven 4.5cm, two 5.5cm and one 6.5cm. Both lots in original wooden cases, tissue removed prior to inspection, excellent color and appearance
"By 1972, at Lebègue/Christie's tasting, I preferred it to the '62 and also to the '66 La Tâche -- which was high praise indeed. By 1977, it has lost quite a bit of colour but was very rich, displaying the inimitable DRC 'peacock's tail'. More recently, a recorked bottle: ruddy, tawny, mature; an extradordinary 'fish skin' Pinot nose that opened up fragrantly; full-bodied, very sweet, excellent length, tannic. Last noted at Prince Rupert Löwenstein's, July 1996 ****(*) Will continue to evolve." MB, Vintage Wine
