GEVREY CHAMBERTIN 1ER CRU, ARMAND ROUSSEAU 1969: Typical burgundian nose, most pleasantly fruity, if somewhat direct, with an equally delightful taste and excellent balance. The finish was very long, on fruit, as expected. The most enjoyable wine at the table. The lack of "sophistication" and "character" penalized this otherwise delightful wine. Sort of like an unspoiled country girl in full bloom. This is no chauvinistic statement for I really have no affinity for country boys notwithstanding the fact that I come from Egypt where, of such, there's much. Lee Kramer, May 5, 1987
