Côte Rôtie, Les Jumelles

The Côte Brune consists of granite terraces covered with a layer of clay and iron oxide which gives a typical tannic wine that can be laid down for a long time ; the Côte Blonde, with the same terraces, covered with a layer of siliceous limestone, produce very soft wine with great finesse. The Côte Rôtie Les Jumelles is a marriage of the characteristics of both of these terroirs on each side of this unique appelation creating a complex blend of finesse and tannins. This wine has the potential for 25 years of aging.

Rhône, Jaboulet
Lot 340 levels: three 4cm and three 4.5cm. Lot 341 levels: two 2.5cm, five 3cm, two 4cm and three 5cm; bin soiled and stained labels, signs of seepage
Tasting note from a representative bottle from this cellar: Bright, brick-red core, with a mature orange rim. A nose of mature Rhône, slightly dusty at first but opening quickly to an array of tertiary aromas of wild mushrooms and spice. The palate is rich with a sweetness on attack, mid-palate of prunes, five-spice and star anise; with a long liquorice finish. RB.
