Each piece of pear shape with leaf and flower decorated sides, comprising: a coffee jug; a hot water jug; a cream jug, each with a carved ebonised handle, the hinged cover of the coffee jug with a leaf and flower finial; and a two-handled sugar bowl, the tray of shaped oval section - the tray 20 3/8in. (51.5cm.) long, 113oz. gross (5)

Lot Essay

At the peak of their glory, Klinkosch had up to 150 employees. Founded by the goldsmiths J. Mayerhofer and C. Klinkosch, the firm received a silver medal in 1835 and a gold medal in 1839. Although it was under the direction of Josef Cark Knight of Klinkosch (1822-1888) and his two sons Isidor (1852-1914) and Arthur (1854 - c.1900) that Klinkosch became the most important supplier of gold and silverware to the Imperial Court of Austria.
