Lot Essay

The text is suraXXVII al-naml v.30 and suraXVII al-israa v.80.

This is a panel from the Burqa', the main door of the Ka'ba. Its position would have been just above the four cartouches containing mirrored script (see lot 46, 26 April 2005).

A very similar panel can be seen on a burqa' illustrated in Hulya Tezcan, Astar al-Haramayn, Istanbul 1996, no.8, p.66.
