Lot Essay
The manuscript includes the anonymous interpolated texts of the Barzu Nama and Bahman Nama
Several figures wears the keçe, the Ottoman Janissary hat, on the double page frontispiece illustration. This feature is shared with another Shahnameh, dated 1576 (unpublished, kept in the Bibliotheca Bodmeriana, Geneva (CB 513) , where in one folio we see a central figure with keçe hat). This is a highly unusual feature for an Iranian manuscript, and suggests a possible Turkish provenance.
