With nickel-finished lever movement, 17 jewels, mono-metallic compensation balance, adjusted to temperatures, polychrome cloisonné enamel dial depicting a map of North America, signed Vacheron Constant, with applied baton and triangular numerals, circular case with down-turned teardrop lugs, case and movement signed, movement further stamped VXN

Lot Essay

During the 1950's, the use of cloisonné dials on wristwatches became quite popular. With the improvement of manufacturing techniques, by such companies as the firm of Charles Poluzzi, various watch companies, such as Vacheron Constantin, Patek Philippe and Rolex, produced wristwatches with bright and colorful dials. These featured such themes as tropical landscapes, seascapes and maps, as seen on the present example.
