Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe cardboard slipcase, wood presentation box with drawer, certificate, Bulletin de Marche dated June 4, 2000 and additional solid platinum case back, with additional cardboard slipcase and leather-covered box.

Comprised of a total of 336 parts, Patek Philippe introduced the reference 3939H in 1995. The combination of the minute repeating and tourbillon functions on the relatively small scale of the caliber RTO 27 PS, 12 ½''', attests to the mastery of Patek Philippe's watchmaking art. To this date the production run of this reference appears to be around 120 pieces, with approximately 30 to 40 pieces in platinum.

The first example of this reference number, movement no. 1903000, is illustrated in Hubery & Banbery, Patek Philippe Wristwatches, Volume 2, Second Edition, p. 330, pls. 484a-c.
