A two-day marine chronometer
the silvered dial signed Norries & Campbell. Liverpool, No. 481 with Roman hour numerals, Breguet-style gold hour (repaired) and minute hands, subsidiary seconds and up-and-down dial with blued steel hands, Earnshaw escapement, cut bi-metallic balance, cylindrical compensation weights, blued steel helical balance spring, spring foot detent with jewelled locking pallet, brass bowl and gimbal, mahogany 3-tier brass-bound box (lacking top lid and lock) and brass external drop handles -- 7in. (17.5cm.) square

This chronometer was made circa 1846, at which date Norris & Campbell are recorded as being at 16 South Castle St. Liverpool. The dial plate is inscribed H. Burthelot 14.8.66
