AN ITALIAN WHITE MARBLE BUST OF NAPOLEON AS FIRST CONSOLE
19TH CENTURY
On an ebonised plinth with inscription on paper label A copy of the bust of Napoleon I modelled from life, while he was in the Isola Bella immediately before the Battle of Ihorengo (sic). It was executed by a sculptor at Ferrara for the Duke of Melze (sic) A.D.C. to Napoleon, the original in the Fitzwilliam Museum, this was bought at ... 1846 and given to ... M.P.
