The hall stool pattern, with its antique-fluted frieze embellished with libation-patera medallions in the George III Roman fashion of the 1770s, relates to a set of hall chairs supplied for Peper Harrow, Surrey and likely to have been executed by the Golden Square firm of Messrs Ince and Mayhew. Three pairs from the Peper Harrow set were sold in these Rooms, A collection from a New York Townhouse, 15 April 2005, lots 220-222.

A related stool, lacking flutes in the legs and the central medallion, was sold Phillips, London, 6 October 1992 lot 86. Another, with flowered medallions and lacking paterae on the legs, was sold Christies, South Kensington, London, 24 June 1989 lot 233.
