This cheval mirror is very similar in form to three supplied by Gillows in 1811 and 1812 to T.W. Egerton for Tatton Park, Cheshire. The latter was described as 'Handsome Cheval Dressing Glass in Mahogany frame, with turned reeded stiles and a pair of brass Candle branches; on reed claws and brass sockett Castors, plate 34 x 22 ...12= guineas, (N. Goodison and J. Hardy, 'Gillows at Tatton Park', Furniture History, 1970, pls. 17b and pp. 28, 30 and 32). Gillows supplied two further related cheval mirrors in 1813 to William Powlett, 2nd Baron Bolton (1782-1850) for Hackwood Park, Hampshire (sold from Hackwood, Christie's House sale, 20-22 April 1998, lots 361-362).
