A well restored early 19th Century French prisoner-of-war fully rigged bone and horn model of the French 48-gun frigate 'Alceste', with bound masts, yards with stun's'l booms, standing and running rigging, carved and painted warrior figurehead, hair rails, anchors, catheads, with lion's heads, belaying rails and pins, capstan, stove pipes, bilge pumps, deck rails and companionways, water buckets, gratings, ship's wheel, two ship's boats with thwarts and other details. The planked and pinned hull has carved and decorated transom and quarter windows, horn strakes and decorated bulwarks and balustrading.
