CIRCA 50-120 A.D.
With lean features and furrowed brow, clean-shaven with close cropped hair, the heavy-lidded eyes with 'crow's feet', wearing heavily draped himation or pallium, repaired with some restoration, on later socled mount

Edward Davies Davenport (1778-1847) of Capesthorne Hall, Cheshire, and his younger brother the Rev. Walter Davenport Bromley (1787-1862) of Wootton Hall, Staffordshire, and thence by descent.

The Capesthorne Hall portrait wears an ample himation or pallium, marking him as a man of Greek origin or a Roman intellectual fond of Greek customs and dress."
