A GROUP OF NORTH-WEST PERSIAN BRONZE SWORDS AND VESSELS
LATE 2ND/EARLY 1ST MILLENNIUM B.C.
Including a sword with long blade and ridged mid-rib, the hilt with conical openwork pommel, incised chevrons on the grip and crescentic guard, 27¾ in. (70.6 cm.) long; two daggers, each with openwork hilt and pommel with pattern of triangles (originally for inlays), one with scabbard, 13¾ in. (35 cm.) long max. incl. scabbard; two other daggers, 12 5/8 in. (32 cm.) long max.; a phiale with central omphalos, and two other bowls, 6 1/8 in. (15.5 cm.) diam. max.; a beaker with concave sides and flaring rim, with decorative bands of horizontal ridges, 7 3/8 in. (18.8 cm.) high; and a fragmentary bronze shield disc, the flattened rim around the raised tondo decorated with recumbent felines and punched dots around bosses, 11¾ in. (30 cm.) diam. (10)
