A LARGE KASHAN LUSTRE POTTERY BOWL, IRAN, CIRCA 1200
Of deep flaring form, the white interior painted with a central roundel of birds reserved on a scrolling ground within a band of running animals, the sides reserved with human figures below a band of naskh inscription, around the rim a further band of running animals reserved against a scrolling lustre ground, the exterior with a broad band of lobed motifs below a narrower band of stylised calligraphy -- 18in. (45.7cm.) diam.
