Lot Essay

The foundations of Bevilacqua Palace were built in 1477 by Tuscan masons. The interior was remodelled by the architect Galeazzo Alessi (1512-1572) in 1531. The inner courtyard, which is illustrated in this lot, is characterised by two tiers of small open galleries.
