Lot Essay

The Mausolée des Jules was built as a funerary monument by descendants of an important Roman family, the Julii, dating from 30-20 B.C. In a style quite unique from other Roman architecture, it is formed by a rectangular base beneath a double-sided triumphal arch on top of which is a small round temple with Corinthian columns.
