A Central Indian sandstone stele with Ganesha
11th century
The three-lobed stele carved with the standing Ganesha, his four hands holding the specific attributes or are partly broken, wearing dhoti decorated with tassels, pot-bellied, his face with curling trunk, almond-shaped eyes, large ears and hairdress decorated with strings, flanked by his consort who offers him a bowl with sweets, wearing sari decorated with tassels, her face with almond-shaped eyes and her hairdress combed into a chignon
