Of cylindrical form with rounded lower portion on short foot, with shell scroll bracket handles, painted with scattered loose bouquets, the moulded rim with paired blue lines and gilt foliate dash
4¾ in. (12 cm.) high; 6¼ in. (15.8 cm.) wide overall

Lot Essay

See David Peters, Decorator and Date Marks on C18th Vincennes and Sèvres Porcelain, privately printed, 1997, p. 90. The mark of a chalice occurs on pieces dated 1754-1758 and 1767 that are painted with flowers. In a 19th century publication, it was ascribed to C-F Becquet, but there is no archival evidence to support the attribution.
