Lot Essay

Michel-Gabriel Commelin is recorded at Sèvres as a flower painter 1768-1802

Léopold Weydinger is recorded at Sèvres initially as a flower painter and later as both a painter of patterns and simple gilt decoration 1757-1806. The present dish must therefore be one of his first efforts. The form is that of the saucer for a gobelet 'Litron' couvert.
