The note that appears in the printed catalogue under this lot applies to the following two lots only (lots 96 & 97.) This has been corrected in the electronic version.

The present pair of sauce-tureen stands, both with date letter X for 1775, are from a service delivered to M^. de Beaujon - pour son Comte 19 May 1775. The gentleman in question is likely Nicolas Beaujon, a financier and grain dealer who became banker to the Court in 1765. In 1773, he purchased the hôtel d'Evreux from Louis XV to whom it had passed upon the death of his mistress Madame de Pompadour. The new owner enlarger the house, now known as the Elysées Palace, home of the Presidents of France. His purchase of a service decorated with the same pattern as a favorite of the French king is likely tied in with the refurbishment of his new home. III, no. 75-3 for a detailed discussion of the service, the suppliments to it in 1787, and its fate upon the death of Beajon.
