Lot Essay

The painter's mark of a stiff capital B found on the present coolers is seen on Vincennes and early Sèvres painted with flowers and dated circa 1753-1757. Birds and animals are also typically found within gilt decoration of this period. See David Peters, Sèvres Plates and Services of the 18th Century, 2005, vol. I, p. 87.
