A 19th-Century lacquered-brass Gassiot-type spectroscope,
unsigned, the prism held in a brass drum with three telescopes, one with slit sight and prismatic viewer on a swinging arm, the second with draw-tube adjustment and finescrew lateral adjustment on the mounting, the third with sprung finescrew-adjusted slit sight, small viewing prism and draw-tube adjustment, mounted on a tapering brass column from a flat tripod base with bun feet, in a mahogany carrying case with two doors, brass handle and key -- 33cm. (13in.) high
