An early 19th-Century brass and ferrous metal model of a single cylinder overcrank stationary engine,
with glass-walled cylinder (cracked) 2in. bore x 3in. stroke mounted on a raised cast iron floor with centrally mounted outward facing valve chest with glass panel revealing the steam valve, separate steam ways, inlet and exhaust pipework, round bar-type crosshead guides, barrelled connecting rod and webbed crank. The crankshaft is supported in three main bearings mounted on a pierced entablature raised on four 'doric' columns with eccentric and rod driven vertical feed pump and gear driven Watt-type governor and linkage and spoked flywheel, the whole finished in black and mounted on a cast iron base -- 60 x 38.7cm. (28 5/8 x 15¼in.)
