A fine early 19th-Century model six pillar single cylinder beam engine and boiler,
the hot bar fired copper boiler with twin flues, level test cocks, weight and lever safety valve (weight missing), steam dome and main stop valve, "smoke" box and chimney, finished in black and green to simulate lagging, the drum -- 16.5cm. (6½in.) dia., 52cm. (20½in.) long (excluding 'smoke' box). Engine details include cylinder 2¼in. bore x 4in. stroke, inward facing valve chest, the valve operated through a lift-off eccentric rod, crosshead and double links, parallel motion with decorative drop links and gibbed and cottered bearings, the cast beam mounted in entablature supported trunnions, fluted connecting rod with gibbed and cottered big and little ends, faceted crank and spoked flywheel, cast bed and mahogany plinth. Measurements overall -- 50.7 x 76.3cm. (20 x 30in.)
