A late 18th-Century English tellurion,
A NEW PORTABLE ORRERY, Invented and Made by W. JONES, and Sold by him in Holborn, LONDON, the small brass Earth ball mounted with an orbiting brass Moon ball on an inclined ring (vertical rod stiff in mounting) over a paper disc showing the days and phases of the Moon, connected via various gear wheels to the central brass Sun ball and mounted on a mahogany horizon plate with hand-coloured engraved paper applied showing the relative sizes of the planets up to Georgium Sidus (Uranus) with symbols, equinoxes, solstices and seasons, with Zodiac and calendar scales around the circumference (old water damage to paper with some lifting) -- 19.7cm. (7¾in.) dia.
