after an early 19th-Century original CARY'S NEW TERRESTRIAL GLOBE, EXHIBITING The Tracks and Discoveries made by CAPTAIN COOK; Also those of CAPTAIN VANCOUVER on the NORTH WEST COAST OF AMERICA; And M. DE LA PEROUSE on the COAST of TARTARY., TOGETHER With every other Improvement collected from Various Navigators to the present time. LONDON: Made & Sold by J. & W. Cary, Strand March 1st 1815 WITH ADDITIONS AND CORRECTIONS TO 1825, made up of four sets of eighteen hand-coloured reproduced quarter-gores, with graduated equatorial, ecliptic and four meridians, the oceans with an analemma and the tracks of Cook, Gore, de la Perouse, Vancouver, Butler and Clerke, with numerous dates and notes, the Antarctic with no coastline shown but various annotations, the continents with nation states variously and delicately shaded and finely detailed with towns, cities, rivers, mountains, deserts, mines, oases and caravan routes, the interior of Australia largely empty, with a boundary line separating the two halves of New Holland and New South Wales, New Guinea with a gap in the northern coastline, the interior of Africa labelled UNKNOWN PARTS and largely empty, with various interesting notes surrounding, Canada with no northern coastline and a note The Sea seen by Mr Mackenzie 1789, North America showing the territories of various indigenous nations (some fading to fine detail) in a stained mahogany stand, the horizon with hand-coloured reproduced ring graduated in degrees of amplitude and azimuth, days of the month and of the houses of the Zodiac, and compass directions, with three curved arms to the meridian support and raised on three baluster-turned and tapering legs united by turned cross stretchers to a glazed compass with engraved paper windrose, steel needle and clamp -- 120cm. (47¼in.) high
