An early 19th-Century English brass compound monocular chest microscope,
signed on the stage Dollond London, the graduated barrel held in a ring on a short limb from the main pillar, the eared stage moving vertically, originally via rack and pinion (pinion component missing; teeth damaged) with an articulated plano-concave mirror at the base, with six objectives, Bonanni sprung stage, cone diaphragm, live box, lieberkuhn in brass case and sleeve, stage forceps (points broken off), glass disc and eight small and three large four-cell numbered ivory sliders (one broken) contained in a fitted mahogany case, one end hinged to flap down so that the microscope can be raised on a compass joint mounted in the base (the other end of the case missing) -- 28.9cm. (11¾in.) wide
