The Glaisque doll, Hibernia
an English pink poured wax baby doll with dark bead eyes, remains of dark mohair, stuffed body of cotton with glazed cotton below knee and wax arms, in original robe with crochet lace and herring bone stitching, crochet cap, two petticoats and knitted pink and white wool booties, in original coloured canework hooded cradle with pillow and sheets, mid 19th century --9in. (23cm.) high, the sheet marked EJG 1855; with handwritten note (2)

Hibernia, had been given to E.J. Glasque by her Aunt Elizabeth Glasque whose baby doll it had been and who redressed it for her niece. The doll was sent to Ireland where she was at the time, hence the name Hibernia.
