an imaginative wood and composition dolls' house designed as an elaborate, rambling 17th century Cotswold stone manor; the main house of five bays, three protruding, with arched porch, celluloid leaded 'stone' windows and 'tiled' roof, the back with two detachable sloping side wings, opening in five sections to reveal three storeys with hall and staircase, nursery with window bars, dining room, drawing room, bedroom with folding door and bathroom, interior doors, wooden flooring, elaborate chimney breasts, three staircases, access passages to side wings and roof, trap doors and climbing hooks to chimney and two secret hiding places and one original Jacobean style chair, 1932 to 1936 --52in. high x 58½in. wide x 54in. deep (132cm. x 148cm. x 137cm.) including front step and side wings (right hand back section front missing, minor damage and some missing parts); and a 'Visitor's Guide to An English Manor in Miniature'

Lot Essay

Elizabeth Muntz was born in Toronto in 1894 and was a pupil of Frank Dobson after studing art in Paris. She was a member of the Guild of Memorial Craftsmen and London Group. Child's Court was commissioned by Mrs Eric Kennington for her daughter Catherine Diana and was made between 1932 and 1936. The house subsequently was accepted by Her Majesty Queen Mary, from Mrs. Kenington as a gift to Heritage Craft Schools. Faith had it on lease for 999 years
