Lot Essay

Bartolommeo Colleoni of Bergamo left funds in his will for an equestrian monument for himself. The original in the Campo SS. Giovanni e Paola, Venice, was modelled by Verrocchio in 1483 and finally cast after the artist's death by Alessandro Leopardie in 1496.
