Dean Bridge was opened in 1831. The 100 foot tall bridge was designed and built by Thomas Telford (1757-1834) and was an important development during the building of the New Town. The sandstone bridge linked Queensferry Road and Queensferry Street to the north-west of Edinburgh city centre.
