AN ENGLISH SMALL-SWORD WITH CUT-STEEL HILT
circa 1780-90
With burnished slender hollow-triangular blade (small-patches of pitting at the point), burnished steel hilt applied with beadwork cut in imitation of brilliants, comprising slightly concave pierced oval guard, the inner face cut with a fluted stellate pattern with beaded borders and carrying a band of larger beads, a pair of very small arms, fluted quillon, knuckle-guard of turning beads cut in the round, fluted solid grip and urn pommel rising to a faceted button, in its steel-mounted leather-covered wooden scabbard, and the hilt in fine condition throughout.
