AN UNUSUAL GILT-SPLASHED BRONZE TRIPOD 'PEACH' CENSER AND COVER
17TH/18TH CENTURY
Cast as a large fruit with a branch handle at one end issuing two stems which curl around the sides bearing buds and leaves, and similar stems encircling the underside bearing three small peaches forming the feet, the openwork domed cover cast as entwined branches, stems and leaves, surmounted by two upright small peaches forming the finial, the bronze with a rich even patina applied all over with irregular gilt splashes
