The poem reads:
Xie gong si zhu you ran bu gu jin (The silk and bamboo (music) of Master Xie is resonant and superior to any in the past or present). Signed Yu Zhai.
Referred to by Donnelly as 'crane and lyre' cups, Blanc de Chine, New York, 1969, p. 92, these cups are most usually found depicting a crane and qin, although are occasionally to be found with just a crane. A similar cup in the Hickley collection is illustrated by R. Kerr and J. Ayers, Blanc de Chine, Chicago, 2002, no. 119. See Donnelly, ibid., plate 34A for a related cup by cup by a different potter.
